Maija Kukkola and Teemu Junnila will start their internship at Centria University of Applied Sciences at Centria SecuLab immediately after Midsummer. They have attended Information Security training and the internship at Centria is a good option since Centria is a familiar place for both through their studies.

-We want to learn something new, and at Centria we will definitely get guidance from experts in the field, Maija reflects.

-Centria has a reputation as a good employer, at least I got this impression by following the social media channels, Teemu adds.

Joni Jämsä, project manager at Centria University of Applied Sciences, describes the Cynic project as such a diverse entity that there is enough space for enthusiastic actors.

-There is a lot to do, current issues at the Cynic project include at least security training and the identification of intranet vulnerabilities. In addition, the project emphasizes data security as part of the company’s risk management and increasing information security awareness, Joni Jämsä describes.

Expertise in many different fields is needed

Maija Kukkola has previously studied business administration and later also nursing. The health sector didn’t however feel quite right and she wanted to try something new. Maija began thus looking for training options in the field of information technology. She found data security training and decided to apply.

-The content sounded interesting, data security issues have been in the headlines recently, and IoT expertise in particular will certainly be important in the future, Maija comments.

-Today it’s also a strength to have expertise from many different fields.

Teemu Junnila has previously studied media technology, which included a lot of visual communication and content design. He has also studied nursing. Upgrading his skills became a necessity and he applied for data security training.

– In the data security training, there were people with different backgrounds, and it has been interesting to follow the discussions of fellow students and learn from others with more experience.

-The internship also includes learning programming and I really look forward to the three months of internship, says Teemu happily.

In Maija´s and Teemu’s opinion, the data security training has been a high-quality package, although they have had to learn a lot of new information in a short period. Both hope that the internship will concretize the information adopted in the theoretical part of the course. For example, building an IoT network sounds like an interesting challenge.
