50 Million EUR Available to Strengthen Cybersecurity

The European Commission has launched a new 50 million EUR funding round under the Digital Europe Program to enhance cybersecurity across the European Union. This fresh call for proposals invites organizations to apply for financial support aimed at improving cyber resilience, promoting innovation, and bolstering the security of Europe’s digital infrastructure.

The funding will support several key areas aligned with the EU’s broader cybersecurity strategy. One major focus is on the development and deployment of cybersecure tools, technologies, and services that leverage artificial intelligence. The initiative also seeks to accelerate the adoption of innovative cybersecurity solutions among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with 15 million EUR specifically allocated to help SMEs strengthen their digital defenses.

Another priority area covers coordinated preparedness testing and related actions to reinforce public sector cyber readiness. While the emphasis is on public administrations, the calls are also open to partnerships involving private and research organizations. Additionally, the program aims to improve the resilience of critical communications infrastructure through funding dedicated to regional cable hubs, including measures to secure Europe’s submarine cable networks.

In Finland, NCSC-FI offers free advisory services to applicants. NCSC-FI provides guidance on identifying relevant calls, preparing funding applications, and finding suitable partners for collaborative projects.

This new funding opportunity represents a significant step in the EU’s ongoing effort to ensure that Europe remains at the forefront of digital trust, resilience, and innovation in cybersecurity.
